Devotees must show Aadhaar Cards for accommodation in Tirumala

The historic and sanctified temple of Sri Venkateshwara is located on the seventh peak of the Tirupati hill.   In fact, this shrine is also known as Balaji temple and has acquired unique holiness in Indian religious wisdom. Of course, the benefits acquired by the pilgrimage to Tirupati balaji are also mentioned in Rig Veda and Asthadasa puranas.  For this reason, most of the Hindu devotees from all over the world like to visit this temple in Thirumala at least once in their lifetime.

Need Aadhaar card for accommodation!

Since this temple is always overwhelmed by the devotees, the trust and management of this temple has to maintain it with some rules for ensuring its safety measures. As the way, the devotees who are visiting the popular hill temple of Lord Venkateshwara at Thirumala will have to produce their Aadhaar cards as the identity proof to get the accommodation.

  • The executive office of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), D. Sambasiva Rao has said that the temple management has determined with the instant effect to permit the devotees to get the accommodation on the hill after they show their Aadhaar card.
  • If the devotees do not have Aadhaar card, they can show their other identity proofs that are issued by the government. However, the proof which is going to submit should mention the address of the person.

In the month of July, Aadhaar card was made mandatory for the devotees who are performing the Angapradakhinam by the TTD in the temple. In fact, this is the precautionary measure for preventing the repeated visits of the devotees to let other devotees get opportunity for worshipping the god. It was said by Temple PRO T Ravi and he further said the convenience of the devotees is the important concern to allow them for worshipping the god.


The decision, taken by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), would ensure the strict rules for getting accommodation facilities for devotees and it helps to track if any disaster or unexpected event happens.
